2D Set Design




Above is a 2D Birdseye image of the set used for ‘Can’t Stand Up for Falling Down’.  The play is set in the houses of 3 women whose lives all connect in some way. It was therefore decided that the stage would be split into thirds, each third being its own miniature set which is one of the character’s house.

Having 3 set designers, we each took a character and their set to design each. The character I chose was Jody . We read the play and took the characters and her personality into consideration, this along with the brief from the director that he wished the play to have a 1950s decor style.  Below is a 2D Birdseye image of my third of the set with furniture included.
 
Choosing a lounge as the section of the house to set the character in. The set is made up of three flats which simulate the living room of the character. These were then wallpapered with a 50s style wallpaper and the 'room' was furnished with a chair, which was also 50s in style. A lamp which matched the wallpaper and an end table. The Cabinet was decorated with books and black and white pictures to accentuate the 1950s style of
